Lady Valerie Meux’s home, The Theobalds Park, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, has been bought by Surya Hotels for £12.5 million.

The estate had been closed for many months after former owners, Birch Hotels went into administration in November 2023.

The hotel has 140 guest bedrooms, two restaurants, a bar, a gym, meeting and events facilities, including 13 conference rooms. There are 55 acres of formal gardens, woodland, and outdoor amenities, including a 20 metre outdoor pool.

At the beginning of March, part of the estate re-opened as The Ridings Restaurant and Rooms. The main house will now undergo restoration which could last two years.
